3. Statistical presentation
3.1. Data description General government gross debt statistics are compiled by the Maastrich criteria and  in accordance with ESA 2010.
3.2. Classification system General government gross debt is classified by instruments, maturity and currency of denomination. Classified by instruments covers: (1) currency and deposits, (2) debt securities and (3) loans. By maturity  strucure  short term debt and long term debt. Debt by currency of  denomination: domestic currency denominated debt and foreign currency denominated debt.
3.3. Sector coverage External debt of the private sector is not covered.
3.4. Statistical concepts and definitons General government gross debt cover debt of BiH General Government. The gross debt of the BH general government consists of external debt and domestic debt. External debt consist the agreed loans of BH (country) and the agreed direct loans by entities. Domestic debt consist of domestic debt securities and loans.
3.5. Statistical unit The statistical unit is the institutional unit.

7.1. Confidentiality-policy Confidentiality of statistical data has been regulated by the Law on the Central Bank of BiH (Official Gazette of BH 1/97) and sets forth the principle of confidentiality as one of the main principles.

- International main users: Eurostat, IMF, UN/UNECE, OECD, WB
- National main users: Directorate for Economic Planning of BiH with the Council of Ministers of BiH, Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, Agency for Statistics of BiH, Ministry of Finance of BiH, other bodies and institutions of the Government
-  Other users: business entities – enterprises, association of employers, researchers and students, media and general public.

14.1. Timeliness  The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina compiles and disseminates annual and quarterly data on BiH general government gross debt. Source data are received 45 days after the end of the quarter.
14.2. Punctuality Thanks to the well-established system of collection, processing and dissemination of BiH international trade in goods data, the punctuality of data dissmination is very good. Problems appear rarely.

15.1. Comparability-geographical The results are comparable with those of other countries (EU Member States primarily).

18.3. Data collection The source data are the General goverment gross debt statistics of the CBBH, Monetary and financial statistics of the CBBH and Debt data base of Statistics and Publications Department of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) – GFS and financial accounts unit.
18.4. Data validation Data on stock of external debt on quarterly level is marked as preliminary until end of 90 days after the end of previous period.
